For those who like a low tech, direct approach nothing beats a Chemex(r) coffee making system. It couldn't be more simple: pour the ground coffee into the filter at the top, then pour the hot water in afterwards. When the brewing is done, toss the grounds and filter and pour the coffee. The carafe has a Scandinavian look to it and is attractive enough to bring directly to the table.
